I was watching the commercial for the new D&D Red Box (not watching it on TV, as I haven't seen it on TV anywhere) and while browsing a thread on EnWorld I found the extended (original 4 minute long) video that was later edited down for the commercial.
Fun stuff, if you are into poorly animated Fiend Folio creatures and Heavy Metal... apparently, I am into it ;)

I'm not convinced it is intended as a TV commercial. Frankly, the production values are a bad fit.
ReplyDeleteBut I have seen the commercial on Hulu while watching a movie.

The visual for this are intended for the 35 to 85 age group. The people who originally played AD&D back in the early 80's to early 90's. They would be the only ones readily familiar with the images used from various 1st edition books and adventures.
ReplyDeleteMy personal favorite was from the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth. It is also one of the more expensive AD&D relics I still own. Recent auctions of this have exceed a $1000 a copy! (http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/modpages/s4.html)
Yep, it tugs at me... that being said, the New Red Box didn't do much for me.
ReplyDeleteThe New Gamma World Box... that might be a different story. We shall see
