Amazon advertised the OD&D Reprint Box at about 40% of retail, so I preordered back in August. Sure, I hate the cover art on the new books, but I figured it would give me actual reading copies without needing to break out my Original Collector's Edition box.
Let's see - the said the release date was Dec 17, 2013 with the end of October update.
They repeated that release date with the end of November update.
Then my Christmas gift from Amazon was this email:
We're still trying to obtain the following item[s] you ordered on August 04, 2013 (Order# 002-37xxxxx-81xxxxx).
Wizards RPG Team "Premium Original Dungeons & Dragons Fantasy Roleplaying Game (D&D Boxed Game)"
Still want it? We'll keep on trying. To keep your order for this item open, please click the link below. Otherwise, we'll cancel your order on January 24, 2014, if we haven't located it by then.Oh, and it shows out of stock on Amazon - was it ever "in stock"?
I know folks have copies - +Timothy Brannan has pictures on his blog today.
Anyone else have an unfulfilled order?
I did. Canceled my order and bought it from Barnes & Noble. It's already shipping out.
ReplyDeleteIt's WOTC they are kinda busy at the moment to give amazon stuff they need.
ReplyDeleteI got an email from Amazon yesterday saying that I should expect it around 15-17 January. Looking today at my order I see that it's now "preparing to ship". So my fingers are all crossed and I'll have it in a few weeks, hopefully.
ReplyDeleteI've heard several stories of misprints in the boxed sets received so far....wonder if they had to recall stock to correct the error?
ReplyDeleteOrdered on Amazon back in mid-June. Received an email yesterday asking me to approve a continued delay for the boxed set as Amazon tries to get a hold of the product. The same thing happened to me with one of the Sundering modules and the Skullport expansion to Lords of Waterdeep. All WotC products interestingly enough.
ReplyDeletepre-ordered in June. Sent Amazon an email on December 17th, They replied it was a supplier problem "out of stock". They advised if I haven't received a ship date by December 24th to contact them again. I haven't and I will.lol. They did upgrade to free one day shipping though if and when it becomes available even though i have 2 day shipping as a Prime member. Will send them another message and see...
ReplyDeleteI pre-ordered two copies from Amazon but have gotten the same notice of delayed shipment.... boo!
ReplyDeleteSame deal for me, I gave up and wound up ordering from Noble Knight.
ReplyDeleteIf they deliver it I'll take it but not losing any sleep over it.
ReplyDeleteHere's the latest answer Amazon just sent me:
ReplyDelete"We ordered this stock from one of our suppliers and we were supposed to receive the supply from the items before December 22. But, still we haven't received the stock from the supplier. In order to make this corrected, we had asked some extra stock from another supplier. He had promised us to supply the items sooner. "
I've ordered from Amazon for a long time and this is the first item that i've ever had troubles with. So it probably is a supplier issue as they note. Anyway, will patiently await since we have no local gaming store near me.
My wife got this at my FLGS sometime ago. I can't speak about Amazon.
ReplyDeleteSame boat with Amazon. Of course my live chat with some ESL guy in India netted me $15 in Amazon credit last night. So pestering them does have its rewards.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I also pre-ordered (back in May), and have recently received notices similar to the ones above. I will be patient, though, as I am not the sort who needs it before everyone else, and I really like the ~$60 discount I'm getting.
ReplyDeleteSaw copies in my FLGS on Tuesday (Gator Games in San Mateo CA).
ReplyDeleteI ordered it in June and REALLY thinking of cancelling it and buying it as a FLGS.
ReplyDeleteI had the same message and delay on amazon.com :(
ReplyDeleteMine is now on its way, so just over 10 months from placing the order to the box being shipped.
ReplyDeleteI pre-ordered it back in February, and they sent me an email saying they shipped it on Decembert, 24th. Took long enough but I will finally have it. Got Chainmail on Noble Knights too, and probably will get the Swords & Spells booklet soon.
ReplyDeleteYup--still waiting.
ReplyDeleteNever pre-order on Amazon. If you order a product on the day it comes out, you usually get a full 1-2 weeks before pre-orders. Such has been my experience.
ReplyDeleteWOTC has been having some trouble shipping these out. My FLGS's haven't been able to get their copies from distro centers either.
ReplyDeleteI'm tempted to order one when it (occasionally) drops to about $88, shelve it for a while, and then sell it on eBay. But I haven't done it yet.
ReplyDeleteIt's odd they are having a supplier issue. You'd think you'd avoid stiffing a major internet retailer with product. It's been a long time since I had an issue with Amazon.com not getting their stuff out the door in a timely fashion.
Maybe it was a Kickstarter... :)
ReplyDeletePre-ordered in February. Got an email the other day asking if I still wanted the item because it was being delayed again.
ReplyDeleteSo I don't think any Amazon orders made it yet.
I preordered in June. I emailed in September asking about the delay in shipping. I emailed again in November when I saw it at my FLGS and got a shipping reduction. I emailed the week before Christmas and was told "we don't know if we'll ever get any of these in". So I canceled and just bought it at the local FLGS. Wish I had held out but I was tired of waiting.
ReplyDeleteOrdered it for my husband when it first became available -- still waiting for it got the email asking we wanted to continue to wait... *sigh*
ReplyDeletePreordered in March. Still waiting. Starting to feel like a kickstarter...
ReplyDeleteI emailed the German WOTC support to ask about this. They said that this was a "very limited product, that cannot even be ordered" from WOTC anymore. "All copies have already been shipped to distributors." Of course, they can't say if Amazon can ever deliver all their pre-orders.
ReplyDeleteI'd say chances are slim to non-existent at this point. =/
I also canceled my amazon order and ordered from Barnes & Noble. Mine should be shipping Monday. Barnes & Noble has the same price with free shipping.
