I had ordered the OD&D wooden box reprint from Amazon last year, and it looked like it was never going to ship. When I found a Barnes & Noble gift card I had forgotten about, I figured I'd place and order there too. Whichever arrived first I would cancel the other.
Of course, both arrived tonight. Go figure.
I'll be announcing an "OSR Competition" later on this week with donated cash awards. Yes, cash awards. The 1st place finisher, in addition to any cash award will also get my 2nd copy of the OD&D wooden box reprint. I figure it was meant to be as such. Why tempt fate?

Same thing happened to me via Amazon. It was shortly after my honeymoon and just after school started when they finally cancelled the order. I was a little mad about it, but I have a buddy who can get me a copy at close to the price that Amazon was going to charge me in the first place.
ReplyDeleteI haven't purchased it yet though, so I may try my luck at the competition.
Haha, somehow I read your post and I swear you said, "think about a unique magic system you would design for the system". I have created a cool magic system, but not a magic item. I'll rethink. (And save the system for my blog.)
