Unfortunately, with their track record, the rest of thaise cryptic statements is, "You will be able to play a full campaign upon the release of the PHB... IF you pay $9.95 a month for our online character creator, $9.95 a month for the online Monster Maker, and $9.95 a month for our Dungeon Designer..."
I can understand your gripe about paying for online content, but their 4e subscription was only one price that included everything, including monthly Dungeon and Dragon.
I play Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG these days. For $40, I can run a complete campaign. There will be no splatbooks - just adventures and the occasional "annual". Thus far, I have never regretted buying an adventure for DCC - although some are better than others, none are not worth the cost of entry. I include 3pp in that.
If WotC puts out some great adventures, well, it is easy to convert materials to DCC, and I look forward to those. If WotC puts out an SRD and 5e is OGL, I might even consider making adventures for it if the system is interesting enough to bother learning.
So far, though, I am with the Grumpy Dwarf in terms of skepticism.
It's very frustrating that he doesn't just say what he means and instead insists on giving half-answers.

ReplyDeleteWith their track record, I think what was omitted just said, "Grab your ankles". No thanks!
