Swords & Wizardry Complete has been free in PDF since November 5th of last year. I should know as the blessed event happened on my 2nd wedding anniversary. It was probably the best gift +Matt Finch and +Bill Webb could have given me, as we've played the shit out of S&W Complete.
Oven the last year I've either emailed a copy or folks have downloaded over 3,500 copies of S&W Complete in PDF.
3,500 copies.
The vast majority of those using the link on the right side of this page.
I don't think a day has gone by that a copy or three (or more) hasn't been downloaded.
I'm far from the only source one can grab a copy from, but I am thrilled to have been able to share an excellent rule system with so many gamers over the last year.
Huzzah!
You are like a street corner drug dealer, but for middle-aged nerds since the first hit is free :)
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, S&W (along with LL) is a gift to all of us and not just because its free. Accessible and streamlined mechanics that enhance to the quality of older rpgs while at the same time slashing the word count. Hell, I even like ascending AC now thanks to SW.
I was grateful when I first used those games after 25 years away from it. Now, after having tried to publish my own, I am in awe of the time they spent doing it. I love this hobby since some of the best things in it are free. Except for all that buying I did afterword, that wasn't free at all :)

DeleteTraitor!
I'll support these games (and LG stuff) anyway... :)
"ascending AC"????
DeleteDescending AC is like creating fire with two sticks when you have a box of matches in your pocket. You can do it but why?
Delete1e is still my favorite but there are few things that I just let go.
Can one obtain a print copy with the wonderful Erol Otus cover?
ReplyDeleteA print copy can be obtained at froggodgames.com
