Kickstarter - Conan (Board Game) - Minis and More oh My!

Have I mentioned that I'm counting down the days until I can retire, because only then will I find the time to play all the amazing board games I've found via Kickstarter AND paint all of the miniatures I've accumulated. Sigh.

Conan is a gorgeous looking game, and I don't say that lightly. It's a GM vs player(s) game, and I expect some light roleplay will sneak in with the right groups.

If my count is right, the basic box comes with 74 figures without counting the ones added by the stretch goals met thus far. Stretch goals add another 62 figures, plus furniture, skull piles, a poster map, a dice bag, extra dice and an extra double sided game board. Thus far.

14 days to go.

Over 8,000 backers.

A goal of $80k is now at over $1,275,000 in pledges.

Am I in?

Yes I am.

Look! I counted right!

  1. I want this badly! But like you, I'm not sure when I'm going to play the damned thing. Case in point: I bought the latest version of Battletech's Introductory Set a few months back, and I've played it probably all of twice. And that was with my 6 year old son. Granted, I want to pass the love of gaming onto my kids, but Battletech's a bit over his head still. Heck, it's over MY head, with some of the rules and what little time I have to learn the rules properly.

Anyway, I'm sure that this will also aggravate my wife, as I add another huge box to the basement stash! Ah, maybe I need to work harder on finding time to game! That's it, that's the ticket! I wish both of us luck in that area!

  2. This just strikes me as a recipe for disaster. Lots of money + lots of minis + lots of stretch goals = high probability of Legendary Failure.

I wish them the best but, as interesting as the game sounds, I'm not willing to pony up.

  3. If I had the free money, I would be sorely tempted, but this is another one that would probably sit in the closet eating up space in my small apartment.
Looking up the games that they mention I think that the actual production will not be an issue. I also like that they have a refund policy clearly stated to help with any buyer's remorse that backers may have.
