Giving Away Two Keys to the New Computer RPG - Pillars of Eternity - Comment, Friend... and Enter

"Eternity aims to recapture the magic, imagination, depth, and nostalgia of classic RPG's that we enjoyed making - and playing. At Obsidian, we have the people responsible for many of those classic games and we want to bring those games back… and that’s why we’re here - we need your help to make it a reality!

Eternity will take the central hero, memorable companions and the epic exploration of Baldur’s Gate, add in the fun, intense combat and dungeon diving of Icewind Dale, and tie it all together with the emotional writing and mature thematic exploration of Planescape: Torment."

So, I've got 2 Steam keys for Pillars of Eternity to give away thanks to an extremely generous patron of The Tavern. They will work on Windows, OS X and Linux.

How do you get into the mix?

Comment on this blog post. Sometime on Saturday morning I'll be randomly picking two commenters to receive these free keys.

So, what are you waiting for? You know you want this :)

(these are $45 retail)

  28. I, herein referred to as The Guy Who Is Making This Comment, do at present write this comment in an honest and heartfelt effort to obtain the means to go medieval-fantasy on Pillars of Eternity's figurative ass. For it has, by all currently available evidence, a very nice ass indeed.

  29. That is quite the give away. Count me in.

  30. Friend. (I'm not making the mistake Gandalf made; you can' t fool me with your unnecessary commas.)

  31. I shall throw my hat in the ring...

    ReplyDelete
  32. I don't want the game since i don't play video games but am commenting to ask what the game is about? The title and your brief "description" give me no clue. Never heard of Balder's Gate or Icewind Dale either so the comparisons mean nada

  33. I haven't played a computer game in ages but this looks fun. I hope it is turned based!

    ReplyDelete
  34. This comment <-- right here. Pick this one.

  35. Very cool! I've been hyped for this game for a long time

  36. My son will be so surprised if I win a key. Matt, it's like playing D&D in which there are invisible walls that keep you on one of the intended paths in the module, but with some freedom to the order you do stuff, side quests you can ignore, etc. Instead of other players, you collect NPC followers with programmed personalities and can make moves for all of them, or leave it to the AI.

  37. This is where my comment goes.

  38. My wife's seventh 29th birthday is coming up. I sure hope I win this so I don't have to pretend to want a divorce, move out a week before, and then reconcile afterwards in order to avoid buying her a present. Again.

  39. I missed the kickstarter so getting a Steam key would be awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  40. That looks very cool: somehow I missed out on that Kickstarter entirely.

  41. Another awesome giveaway! Thanks mate! :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. I've been really looking forward to playing this game.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I would certainly enjoy getting a key for this title! Awesome you are doing another giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Torment *sigh* Such nostalgia.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Here is my entry. good luck everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  46. This should be great game. Good luck to everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I appreciate that this is another fine game that runs in Linux!

    ReplyDelete
  48. This is awesome! And you are running a great blog!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Looks to be a great game, please enter me as well.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Great giveaway! I was really kind of bummed out when the Seven Dragon Saga kickstarter was cancelled and then Pillars launched. It looks like such an amazing game and I loved the games it's based on. Hopefully my name comes up when you do the drawing!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh majestic Balkar's Tavern, home of glorious posts (and cool giveaways)!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I barely have time for any computer games, but hell, I'll give it a try.

    ReplyDelete
  53. So ready for this game! Make way evil! I'm armed to the teeth and packing a hamster!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Comment!

I enjoyed the original BG, but subsequent Bioware RPGs haven't really recaptured the open-world feel of being able to explore the landscape for myself. Even BG2 felt too railroad-y at times. Hopefully this retro project will be at least a small step away from tight plot control and toward free exploration.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Not a better giveaway to be found between Amn and Neverwinter. Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I, for one, certainly need more ways to waste time!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Maybe I can leave this unfinished, just like Dragon Age!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Commenting because I will own this one way or another and my wife would prefer this way.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I just downloaded the original games last week. This is cool.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Oh puhllleeeeassseee let it be me. This would be better than winning the lottery. Obviously i could buy lots of copies then but still aren't going to play better than the first one . Can't sleep. Getting jitters thinking about this. I'll name my first character Lucky and make him a leprechaun.

    ReplyDelete
  61. This game looks awesome, toss it my way :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Probably too late, but would love this!

    ReplyDelete
  63. put me in too if you haven't picked already

    ReplyDelete
  64. Mayhap a key to these pillars, Tenkar?
