Kickstarter - Trudvang Chronicles (Swedish Fantasy RPG translated to English)

The above graphic for the Trudvang Chronicles is needed, as the $70 support level doesn't really spell out that you are getting the game in print.

Oh, and of course, Pdf should be PDF, but that's nitpicking, right?

Apparently no, it's a "thing."

The below comment from the KS is from just over 2 hours ago:

So they are having a few issues with translation. Actually, it seems like a large amount of issues with translation, which makes me wonder who they hired to do the translation / editing.

It's not that the Trudvan Chronicles hasn't exploded:

Yes, I used a screenshot because I couldn't believe the numbers. Those are Monte Cook numbers without the accompanying attitude.
Trudvang Chronicles is an award-winning fantasy roleplaying game based on the mysterious and dark Nordic and Celtic sagas and myths. Enter a world of enchanted forests, trolls, dragons, spirits of nature, heroes and adventures. Trudvang is both grim and dark, epic and yet down to earth, with a melancholic tone of an ancient age when nature was a living creature and magic was wild and strong. Above all, Trudvang is a saga...
I'm interested. I'm intrigued. I'm terrified it will be a poorly translated mess.

The Tavern's readership spans the globe. Does anyone have first hand / second hand / long distance hand knowledge of the Trudvang Chronicles? Is it worth the leap of faith?

I fall in love with the above art, then I see the below in the video:

  2. It does seem like an AMAZING game...and the dynamic combat capacity is intriguing as well.

  3. Looks very interesting, but I am real nervous about the translation problems. If you look at their forum in English, lots of errors in the posts done by the company itself. Also some errors in the KS page. In each case, I could figure out what they meant, but doesn't give me lots of confidence. I still have a couple of days to decide about pledging. Do you have any idea how much shipping to US is?

  4. I wouldn't be too worried about the translation. The Swedish RPG scene has lots of good people and if they do like other publishers they'll play the ball not only to proof readers but to the customers to get it all correct.

But! I wouldn't bet on the shipping being as low as you think Erik ... Pinnacle wanted $60 for shipping 3 books to Norway som my guesstimate would be more in the 40+ ballpark than in the tens...
The American postal service is quite cheap when it comes to inland shipping, outside it's borders ... not so much(and I'd guess vice versa)
When it comes to the game itself I've heard nothing but good things about it, but have never had the chance to read or play it ... I did have a reminder to see how my finances was(bad) when the kickstarter ends and I'd like to back it ...

  7. @ Atrox, hey Atrox, Theo from RiotMinds here. Just want to check in and say that we will use a professional editor to go thru all the texts so hopefully we can level up on the texts. We are aware of the situation regarding the texts.

  8. Atrox, if you select 'Back this project' then select the pledge level that you are interested in, you can see a full list of postage to each country. The idea is that you would select your country and the postage rate would be added to your pledge level. For the USA and for the UK, it's 200 SKE, which is about $23 or $24

  9. There is a response in their kickstarter FAQ about hiring professional translators/editors.

  11. Looked pretty awesome, I went for the Adventurer level. Thanks for the heads up on something I would otherwise miss.

  12. I backed their 'Art of Trudvang' Kickstarter and was very impressed with the quality of the final product. It is mostly art, but the text that introduces each chapter and the book itself appear professionally edited. I love the book and jumped at the chance to get a copy of the RPG in English - but I'm a sucker for Norse / Viking era games.
