I would do a drum roll but that doesn't work so well on a blog post. Oh well.
+Wayne Humfleet - congrats. Email me at tenkarsDOTtavern and we'll get you hooked up.
Now for today's gift. WG5: Mordenkainen's Fantastic Adventure (1e), written by Gary Gygax and Rob Kuntz, its part of OBS recent TSR Era POD offerings.
Four great and powerful heroes travel in search of adventure. Led by Mordenkainen, wizard without peer, they have come to mysterious Maure Castle, a forlorn and foreboding place, source of wonderment and awesome adventure, following a strange and terrible story.
For, somewhere deep beneath Maure Castle, from whence no person has returned alive, there stand two massive iron doors -- doors without latch, lock, or handle -- the Unopenable Doors.
And if the doors are opened, what then? Such potent evil, such terror lies beyond, that even the bravest adventurers may quail before the ultimate test!
Mordenkainen's Fantastic Adventureis a challenging adventure for high-level play. Four original characters from Gary Gygax's famous Greyhawk campaign are included for your use.
Can you meet the challenge? Can you survive what lies beyond ... the Unopenable Doors?
An adventure for characters level 9-12.

ReplyDeleteThat looks fun!
ReplyDeleteYay! OSR Day 2!!!
ReplyDeleteMaure Castle actually had more pull on me than anything else in Greyhawk...
ReplyDeleteAh, one of the TSR items I haven't gotten my hands on yet. OK, there are a lot of them, but still...
ReplyDeleteDalt god of doorways was my favorite
ReplyDeleteCool, I'm aware of the adventure but I've never actually read it.

ReplyDeleteI cast Mordenkainen's Faithful Post Comment.
ReplyDeleteHaha!
DeleteKerzit says:
ReplyDeleteGrrrrawr! This nonsense of "adventurers" thinking they can defeat me must come to an end! The middle must be mine, that I may destroy their chances!! After all, that useless Tomorast is a complete failure...
Greyhawk is my jam. I'm painting some of those old Ral Partha Anti-paladins into Warduke right now.
ReplyDeleteI also love Oerth and Greyhawk. I would like to see a picture of your minis when you when you are finished painting them.
DeleteThat's a fun one! I'm definitely curious to see the quality on these reprints in person.
ReplyDeleteMaure-velous! ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite modules.
Back for round 2.
ReplyDeleteFantastic? How can I pass up a module that says "Fantastic" in the name?
ReplyDeleteGood luck everyone!
ReplyDeleteOMG, so much fun, unless the insane Druid you just met starts yelling "Kerzit, Kerzit, Kerzit!" a mere five minutes after meeting the rest of the party lol.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I'd love to win this one!
ReplyDeleteTime for the old Classics to become new again!
ReplyDeleteThis would be fantastic.

1e <3
ReplyDeleteGreat pick! I too would love to see how the POD looks with the oldies but goodies!

ReplyDeleteYour mom had a fantastic adventure!
ReplyDeleteYes, please! :)
ReplyDeleteMy collection demands I win this one :D
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm... OSR POD Goodness. I'm IN!
ReplyDeleteIt is said Mordenkainen's stocking is a portal to a hobby shop in the 90s by the role playing nook. Some of the nerds then would often find beloved treasures there whIle their moms bought knick-knacks.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm in. Great adventure. I wonder if the PDF fixed the upside-down map?
ReplyDeleteI always read that as "mauve" castle, for some reason.
ReplyDeleteNice! I never had this one back in the day.
ReplyDeleteI'm in! Thank you and Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Wayne! And yeah, I'd love to get a copy of this :)

ReplyDeleteAny old school content is good content. :)
ReplyDeleteA most excellent module. High level Greyhawk for the win!
ReplyDeleteI need to get my Players back to Greyhawk.
ReplyDeleteThey've always wanted to be buried, along those pleasant hills.
This appears to be exactly how I can accomplish this.
Looks awesome!
ReplyDeletePowwww ...
ReplyDeleteOdlschool Greyhawk meets POD? yes!
ReplyDeleteOne of the main reasons this module is a nice one to have is the fact it applies a very Vanceian approach to the wizard in questions mindset. Besides who can deny wanting to play an adventure that from the intro gave the great gamemaster himself difficulty.
ReplyDeletecouldn't be better than this one =]
ReplyDeleteRaises hand (and stalks around nervously eyeing the other people commenting)
ReplyDeleteYes please!
ReplyDeleteMerry OSR Christmas!
ReplyDeleteLove me some Greyhawk! Never read this module. :)
ReplyDeleteI played in this ~30 years ago. I remember having a good time with it.
ReplyDeleteI got lightning shooting from my fingertips!
ReplyDeleteThis would be cool to win!
ReplyDeleteNice mod.
ReplyDeleteI love that they are offering these again. Keeping my fingers crossed for more basic rule books and modules in particular! Thanks for the contest, Erik!
