Its 2017 - Where's My F@cking Far West!?!



Gareth, he of endless release dates, promised to release Far West by the "end of the year" even if it was a dump of an incomplete manuscript.

So, where is it Gareth?

Failed again? Say it isn't so. After five fucking years there must be SOMETHING to show for the effort.

How about some words of wisdom attributed to Mister Big Time Publisher?


Gareth, after five years, this is your baby and yours alone. There is one thing I do understand about publishing - if the manuscript isn't complete, it can't be published. Gee, who has supposedly been working on the manuscript for the past five years?

Don't blame Cubicle 7 at this point. They jumped in to save your ass and you had nothing to give them in publishable form.

If you have nothing, be a man and admit it. Right now you've been playing the gaming community for a bunch of fools almost as long as Con Man Ken.

    Wow, I'm so glad I didn't back this kickstarter. I almost did it but just didn't have the cash at the time.

    I wonder: does Far West even have to offer anything beyond Internet drama, or would it be one of the hundreds upon hundreds of RPG products which sink and get forgotten shortly after their release? It seems to be a standard, lazy genre/genre mashup.

    At least Technoir (another major Kickstarter fiasco) ultimately delivered a great neo-cyberpunk game that does a lot of interesting new things.

    Or take Cleve Blakemore's Grimoire (a name which will be familiar to old CRPG hands). It has a few charming pitch videos, a demo that reveals there is actually a fascinating and complex game behind the vapourware, and by now, it is a piece of 'net history.

    This GMS product just seems dull; the only thing that makes it entertaining is the scam.

    I did back this project and have been looking forward to seeing it. I know that Spartacus Publishing and a couple of other small press people reached out to Skarka offering help to get the project finished. Everything was rebuffed.

    The tendency of some gamers to kiss the ass of celebrities - even z-list demi-"celebrities" like Skarka - is once again on full display at rpg.net as they closed yet another Far West thread to protect this horse's ass from criticism.
