So, you thought Marcus had milked the Walking Dead connection to death when he was billing #ConManKen as a Walking Dead star for his walk on part. You had the privilege of paying for a "Photo with Ken" as well as the signature of a virtual illiterate - allegedly.
Well, now you can own your very own Faux "Negan" Bat - absolutely not licensed by anyone with any authority involved with the Walking Dead itself. Because when you align yourself with Ken, why follow the rules? Why get a license? Why not just scam? Oh wait, they are.
Wait - let's infringe on yet another intellectual property.
Its all okay though. I'm sure Ken is telling Marcus exactly how to do things right...
Maybe Marcus is selling bat to raise money to pay Conman Ken's backers. After all, he offered *me* a check (but didn't take me up on my request to pay off an actual backer).
ReplyDeleteThe barbed wire bat did not originate with TWD. One is featured in the movie Haute Tension, but come on people.
ReplyDeleteOh, wired bats have a long history. Selling it as a Walking Dead inspired piece of memorabilia is low.
DeleteHappens all the time when a market is either too expensive or doesn't exist. My daughter (5 and a huge Ghibli fan) has a lupita necklace from etsy because Ghibli rarely licenses products to the US and. Japanese import is just too damn expensive. It was part of her Halloween costume last year.
DeleteHope they don't try to sell that stuff in any of the Dealer's room at the fan Conventions I help run....
ReplyDeleteBeing culturally only semi-literate myself, I read everything up until taped handles picturing, or trying to picture, a flying bat. Wings and barbed wired. That would be a fine creation, especially once dipped in fake blood.
ReplyDeleteThe bats may not be authorized by AMC, but I bet the C&D will be.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure AMC and SyFy would love to hear about these knock-offs that infringe upon their IP.
ReplyDeleteWelp, Marcus King just proves (again) what I already know - that he's slime just like his friend Ken. Maybe there's a new AMC show here: Bootleg King
ReplyDeleteNothing this week about Ken's new KODT Facebook group, Erik?
ReplyDeleteThere's never anything new from Kenny - just more deleting of people who dare to ask questions and more kicking the ball down the road.
DeleteWOuld it not be cheaper to buy a bat and some barbed wire, and make it yourself?
