Ken Bought Mad Ox Games & Comics - At a Discount and No Money Down - Who's the Bigger Fool?

So, Marcus sold the money losing, poorly managed Mad Ox Games & Comics to the above mentally disabled (self diagnosed) alleged con man and serial Kickstarter Project creator who has yet to fulfill a project.

Ken was the last manager. He didn't hit his numbers, but he'll be a success as a store owner!

Marcus was asking $20k, so he sold it for $13k. But wait, no money down! Of course, if Ken had money to put down, he'd put it towards that Kickstarters that are due in 2 weeks - Ken's own timetable. I mean, he would - right?

My God - Ken's doing Kickstarter stuff? Probably so he can sell it in store ;)

So, I'm thinking we should run a pool a as to how long it takes for Kenny to:

a - default on paying Marcus

b - default on the lease

c - default on utilities

My money is on 60 days to default on utilities with a trifecta at 90 days.

Now remember, #ConManKen has a self diagnosed mental disability, so when he forgets to pay a bill, he has a built in excuse. Not a valid excuse, mind you, but an excuse none the less.

This is Poo Poo Face with yet another installment in the saga affectionately known as #ConManKen, the Self Diagnosed Mentally Deficient Store Owner and Serial Kickstarter Abuser.

You don't deserve to own a store.

    2. Yeah, handing over your business to a guy who is financially insolvent (assuming he isn't still flush with loot from those fraudulent Kickstarters) with no money up front? No way that will go wrong!

  3. Hoooooly Shitfuck. How is Kenny-Poo gonna find time to fulfill his Kickstarters if he's busy trainwrecking a comic/game store and financially defaulting on His Last Friend On Earth? Jesus H. Christ On A Pogostick. (Oh, and 14 days left. Tick tock, Kenny. Tick tock.)

  4. I hope Ken puts down roots and actually succeeds running this store. I hope he gets enough money to make good on the pencils and the dice deck. I think the movies are a lost cause. He's hurt a lot of people ... but I don't wish him perpetual suffering. I wish him luck honestly. However ... I have to say .. his track record says this won't last and by Gamehole Con ... I'll be able to talk about this with my fellow vendors.

    1. Yep. Ken doing actual work for pay hopefully detracts him from the usual ways he falls back on to scratch for money. (which usually means other people being victimized).

So I hope it works out for him. I know he has alimony and child support to contend with - so there's that as well.

I've given up on him ever doing anything on his kickstarters again. He's made it pretty clear he's done by his actions and the way he avoids the subject. You can't prod a lame pig to market.

But like others I don't think this gig will last long. I'd be surprised if he makes it till the end of the year.

    1. It's like Marcus decided it'd be a good idea to dump a completely new flaming dumpster into the already-flaming dumpster that is Kenny-Poo's financial acumen.

  6. So, if he liquidated the stock, defaults on all payments to Marcus he has the money to finish the kickstarters. Not that he will, finish the kickstarters that is.

  11. From Mad Comics Facebook page: MAD OX Games & Comics (SOMERSET, KY) IS NOW Little Monsters Games & Comics. The store is under new ownership, and this PAGE will no longer used for post in the SOMERSET location.

You know how Kenny likes changing names and places. Just making sure he stays in the spotlight: https://www.facebook.com/LittleMonstersGamesandComics/

    1. Hmmm...new custom signage is up on the front of the building. I daresay this has actually been in the works for a while as custom artwork and branding takes more than overnight to pull together.

  12. I already explained this in a previous thread but here goes again:
    1) The actual physical store has 0 value. None of the product in the store is worth paying someone to sit there and sell. You will NOT recoup your $$. Everything in there is dressing to make it look like a "store" so "if" ever a WOTC guy comes around...
    2) The "actual" value in owning a "store" is being able to order product cheap and then flip it online before it plummets in value. The bigger the coverage means the better the discounts.
    3) Notice how on the surface King basically gave away his store and likely never gets paid anything? Reality is he out scumbagged Ken. Ken is stuck having to grind it out and King gets to order all the product he can and "FREE MONEY!!". He still owns the store and gets to order MTG product out the ass and dump it online.
    4) None of his managers can meet the "numbers" cause how do you compete with King online? This is Universal. You get some dimwit in there trying and failing and they're set up for failure. It's a total no-win scenario unless you're the guy ordering the product. Ideally you don't have to "own" a store... ... ...
    5) But you do have to own a store. If you want to get product at competitive distribution rates you have to own a store. No way around it.
    6) So King and many other figured out the following: There are a ton of dimwits "out there" with a dream and you fill a place with a ton of crap and "gift it" to them (but in actuality you really do own it when it comes time to call up your distributor...) and they sit there and you keep them there as long as possible till they realize they're wasting their life away and then you find the next dimwit. They actually lose $$ (cause there's no chance to actually make any after they eat) and you bitch and moan about it and then count all the $$ you made online and tell the next guy the last string of guys were incompetent morons.
    7) You sustain this as long as possible and free money.

    1. King still owns a store aside from whoever owns this one.

    2. King owns a store and pays his bills on time, at least to me.

Marcus is kind to Ken because he credits Ken with calling at a time when Marcus was suicidal. I've no reason to disbelieve Marcus on this.

I wish Marcus well in this. I hope this proves to be the actual portal to being a functional adult for Ken Whitman.

And I say this as someone who's fulfilled some of Whitman's backers for their Traveller spaceship minis out of my own pocket.

    3. "Functional Adult" and "Ken Whitman" do not belong in the same sentence. Believe me, as one who has been called "Poo Poo Face" by Kenny more than once, threatened with lawsuits and federal agents at my door looking to arrest me, someone that self diagnoses their own mental illness in an attempt to avoid their outstanding responsibilities, Kenny is neither functional nor an adult.

There you go Kenny. Looking forward to you going into hiding to avoid "adult responsibilities" yet again.

Ken Burnside - I remember you doing so. Sad that you had to but one hell of a stand up thing to do.

  13. I'll address a few counter arguments here to save the time of anyone having to post them.

    1) But Ken "owns" the store now!
    a) No he doesn't. He owes King xxx dollars which will never be repaid and as long as he owes that $$ King will keep on ordering those MTG booster boxes... King will trickle a few out (as little as possible) to make sure Ken is able to stay alive and sit there at the property.
    b) Ken is an incompetent moron. Have you ever noticed there's a lack of young and eager college graduates managing game stores? It's usually Ken types of people? Then you wonder, "How can these people possibly make any money???". I posted the answer above.
    c) Ken is dumb enough to think that he owns the store. You need someone dumb enough to think they are responsible for the "store" and at the same time able to accept that they don't get to buy all the $$ product. You need a dimwit person who will really stick it out or you're stuck with Kings dilemma of having multiple "managers" and cycling through so many of them becomes work in itself. You really need that one special guy...

    2) King has his own store (blah blah blah) and probably an online store with seemingly physical store prices I imagine? Keeps up his appearances.

    a) You set up a ton of Ebay accounts, a TON of them, via all these Shcmoes you inevitably encounter. You turn and burn all your product via those accounts and nothing gets traced back to you. Everything else is dressing so you look like you're the good guy. You complain to WOTC about getting destroyed by online sales and you wind up being a major online seller or else you fail. WOTC favors you though cause you have the "store". You work both ends.
    b) You're a weasel to do this in the 1st place so paranoia kicks in and you basically have a home base type of operation (just in case) cause really you were a guy with a dream and wised up.
    c) I know a guy out here who does this successfully and constantly flips stores (they cycle about every 6 months if you find someone gullible enough) and he has his home base store (not even a physical store but a venue where he can dump his MTG product) and tons of Ebay accounts with thousands of feedback per and he turns and burns constantly. He has Schmoes listing on Ebay full time. They get burnt out and he moves them to their own store (Like a Ken) and they wise up and he replaces them.
    d) Your main issues here are loss prevention issues (cause you're dealing with bottom of the barrel here) and then the CRISIS scenario:"What if" the store actually goes out of business". Through no fault of your own you let your Ken pay the rent and pretend he has a store and things go South and your timeline is off and the landlord believes Ken when he's talking about "his store" and then "Oh fuck" you lose some distribution deal. That's a disaster.

    1. Again, Marcus has his own store and has been doing this (his own store) for years.

Your theories are interesting but mostly conjecture at this point. I doubt the money is being made from games except for MtG - and comics have a fair markup, assuming you sell what you order.

Now, I COULD see this as a tax write off when Kenny fails to pay and all the stock "goes missing"...

  14. Having a business also allows you to get business loans or buy on credit, sell what you bought for peanuts, and then file for bankruptcy. Doesn't anyone watch Sopranos? :)

  15. I have to wonder if Ken owns the store that could be an asset as far as lawsuits go. I suspect he doesn't actually own it for that reason alone.

  16. Little Monster Comics was the original name of the store btw - apparently for two decades. This was posted back in December before it merged with Mad Ox.... https://www.facebook.com/LittleMonstersGamesandComics/videos/1157486470953469/
