#ConManKen Hits the Big Time! There's a Youtube Video Exposing Kenny and his "Shenanigans"

I just started watching it. Fuck the antibiotics, I'm breaking out some beers for this. Looks good so far and shows ken in the best of light - you know, real bright light that makes cockroaches scurry ;)

Watch it before Ken threatens lawsuits to have it removed...

  1. Sometimes I wonder if I am doing it wrong when I write a game that actually ends up existing, then ask people to pay me money for the game that exists and can be played.

  2. How did someone who couldn't even coordinate pencils run Gencon?

    1. This was the first I had heard about him having anything to do with GenCon.

    2. Just did a little Google-Fu. He worked for TSR as GenCon convention coordinator for 94-95. So, during the years that the company was spiraling down the drain, he was a bigwig? Let's see, why was it that TSR collapsed... Oh, yeah! Embezzlement. Lots and lots of embezzlement. What a coincidence.

    3. So he never actually ran GenCon, he coordinated TSRs presence there. That makes more sense.

I'm actually surprised that late 90's TSR had any money to embezzle.

    5. So, TheShadowKnows, like John snow you know nothing. BUT its easy to just say embezzlement or make some other shit up to make yourself fell like you know something.

The late TSR collapsed because the president had a big EGO and wanted to keep up with WOTC. At the time WOTC was grossing 100m. and TSR only 40m. She was convinced thats Dragon Dice would be TSRs version of Magic. They LOST millions in the process and eventual sold out to WOTC.

While hundreds lost their jobs, Loraine went on to own stock in WOTC and be on the board of directors and made millions more during the buyout to Hasbro and thus rewarded for sinking TSR.

    6. Hey Ken!

Aren’t Federal Agents still expected to arrest all of your victims...sorry, I mean vicious critics? I mean, what ever happened with all that?

      Asking for a friend...

Your reading comprehension is clearly no better than your work ethic. I was in fact questioning the embezzlement story because I (in all seriousness) doubt late-90's TSR had much money to steal.

  3. I call this video, good entertainment. LOL

    1. Entertainment is the key word, as when something is produce one sided, entertainment is all it can be called. Not once did anyone approach me for my side. It's all hearsay and tall tells until one hears both sides.

IF I did what that video said... I WOULD BE IN JAIL. I am not, so...

    2. Kenny, I offer you a chance to tell your story, in your own words. No edits from me and the only comment would be "The following post is by Ken Whitman, telling his side of the story":

      Care to step up?

    4. Ken,
You fraudulent Kickstarters, and at least the KoDT:LAS Kickstarter is clearly fraudulent because you cannot, or simply would not, comply with the promised rewards (like the after-party, or the posters, etc.) and your "proof" of "why am I not in jail" doesn't make sense. You being in jail, or not, is NOT "proof" of innocence on your part. Being in jail, or more specifically prison (as I would argue that your crimes are more than likely felonies), is not a binary option with regards to your activities. The simple fact that the overwhelming majority of your backers simple do not want to spend even more money on trying to prosecute you (which I agree is an assumption on my part, a logical assumption, but an assumption nonetheless) doesn't mean you are innocent.

    1. When truth is stranger than fiction. Watching this, and all the other scams I've heard about from him, I keep wondering where all the money has gone. Is he really as broke as he seems, or does he have it stashed away somewhere. A quarter million for that acting what-ever-it-was. That's a lot of beer. Ken looks like he drinks a lot of beer, but not that much.

    2. I guarantee he doesn't have a nickel stashed away. He blew it all on stupid shit because he thought there would always be more suckers. That's how these guys think.

Bernie Madoff was a hundred times smarter than Kenny Boy, and he still didn't have a pot left to piss in when the bottom dropped out of his scam. These guys just can't help themselves.

  6. Deliver a product die utterly unknown barely making enough to get out of the red. Don't deliver and every gamer knows your name and that infamy is good for business.

  7. Deck dice seems like a good idea, but it literally will not work right. In order to simulate a fair die with another medium you need a uniform distribution for which the die type is a factor. Lowest number for which 4,6,8,10,12,and 20 are all factors is 2x2x2x3x5=120.
There might be SOME way to get it close with multiple draws, but not just by placing die rolls on each die.

  8. Can somebody explain what role Ken claims to have had at Gencon? And what was his actual role?

  9. I feel like his accomplishments were listed uncritically, wasn't he given the game store on credit? also if he's as broke as he claims where did that fancy hotel go?

    2. His then girlfriend/wife owned the hotel, not him. It was never his, just another Ken Whitman lie.

  10. Kind of sad that it takes almost 1/2 hour to show and illustrate all of Ken's failings, not only of kickstarters, but of anything he was involved in. Still can't understand how Kickstarter would let him do more projects even after his 2nd failure, or third, or fourth, or fifth time not delivering. Shame on Kickstarter for enabling this jackass to steal more money from innocent gamers.

    1. The extra kickstarters were run before the earlier campaigns had failed to deliver.

    2. it's only a 1/2 hour to cover the kickstarters. plenty of other material if you look at his complete history. Rapidpod and all.

  11. Hey, I'm in that video around the 21 minute mark. I pledged $100 for the Cthulhu dice tower KS and thankfully got all my money back (minus shipping costs).

  12. Heya guys, just checked my analytics for the video and turns out some of the traffic came from here. So big thanks for that.

Also a big thanks for all the research that went into this. It made for a very interesting video to make.

I am glad you all like it. Let me know if you have any suggestions for future episodes or any corrections that need to be made (check the top comment on tge video first)

    All the best
