Jess Hunter is the new owner of Little Monsters, now called Little Monsters Entertainment LLC. Little Monsters Games & Comics LLC is still incorporated by Ken Whitman. So, there are now TWO Little Monsters. Following thus far?
Jess Hunter claims she purchased the store location and merchandise from a "Jim Sears", not Ken Whitman.
4440 S Hwy 27 Somerset, KY is the location of Little Monsters in either incarnation.
The WhitePages lists the following businesses at that location:
Mad Ox was both after an earlier incarnation of Little Monsters and prior to the Ken and Jess incarnations - or is it?
Is Jim Sears the business partner that Marcus King has alluded to in the past?
It seems to me that either nothing was ever sold, and Marcus defrauded the Tax Man...
OR:
The store was sold to Ken Whitman and now Ken, Marcus, Jess Hunter and Jim Sears are trying to defraud the courts.
with thanks to NotAnotherDime |
Neither looks to be on the up and up.
Ah well, Ken always entertains.
For more #ConManKen escapades read NotAnotherDime (for Ken Whitman)
Well, if they are trying to defraud the courts they've taken a civil matter and just made it criminal. So, there is that.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you remember the Dark Phoenix Publishing stuff that was swirling around a few years ago, but one of the takeaways of the whole thing was how the guy that was running it had so many claims of businesses, business listings on BBB or Google, etc that there was some thoughts it was due to some shady crap.
ReplyDeleteEverything about it stinks. Even the picture of Jess Hunter. Looks like some screenshot of a random Tinder selfie. Makes me wonder if the girl in the picture even knows she's "Jess Hunter" and just bought a Game Store.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking much the same thing.
DeleteAnd, the conspicuous name drop seems to imply that the "new owner" has no connection to Ken.
Further, the idea that businesses change hands that fast, that often, seems a little out of place.
Good reporting. The only thing that I might caution is that we don't know who Jess Hunter is, and we don't for sure know any of her motivations. Might be prudent at this time to not assign her name to any ill intentions. But yeah, the deal looks shady on the Ken/Marcus front.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone called the store and asked for Jess? That might clear up a thing or two.
ReplyDeleteKen has done something like this before. Specifically, he *allegedly* transferred control of his Rapid POD business and all of its assets to other parties (two ladies, IIRC) as some sort of an attempt to dodge creditors.
ReplyDeleteI would not be surprised if this is the same thing happening here, given the information made publicly available and the apparent attempt to remove any mention of Ken Whitman's association with the property in question.
There was a woman helping CMK with his comic sale on Facebook the other day, though she remained off camera while I was watching
ReplyDeleteHere's a layman's question. Can a business be audited by the taxman back through a chain of owners or is it only the real people involved that can be audited as individuals?
ReplyDeleteIf it can be proven that he owned the business from X date to Y date and he didn't pay taxes during that time, yes, Ken Whitman can be held legally accountable for tax cheating.
DeleteDon't forget that time Ken said he witness something like $10K of business in his store and Marcus popped up to say that he would owe like $600 in taxes and then Kenny changed his tune quick.
DeleteAnd there seems to be paperwork suggesting he did own and run a business from that address.
ReplyDeleteWe know Ken plays fast and lose with the truth, but the business as a whole seems shady.
Yeah I found one Jess Hunter in Somerset... and she is not the person in that picture. That doesn't mean anything of course. A social media search is not 100% guaranteed, but it is interesting.
ReplyDeleteanyone try a reverse image search?
ReplyDeleteYes. No hits.
DeleteI tried it with just the picture of the girl herself and all that came up was a tiny 84 x 85 thumbnail of her: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/aCOw-i8ISFlY06oo6EFd4z4zXZipiO1Vj4wm2Xt-Qxw0R7QBhVeZKvtKIlyaub68Op1sRQ=s85
DeleteEven without Whitman's involvement, I would think something shady and weird was happening with this business. Add him to the equation, and the whole thing starts to look as crooked as a bundle of fish hooks.
ReplyDelete(If this woman IS legitimate, I wish her well with the business... and with handling the process servers and other official types who are coming for Kenny Boy's ass.)
For what it's worth, I cropped that photo (that looks like a dating site selfie) and did some reverse image lookups. Nothing came up...
ReplyDeleteFolks, she is a real person. She can be found on Facebook. Let's stick to the facts a bit before we go doxxing.
ReplyDeleteI have a screencap of Jess and Ken kissing during Ken's "last" liveshow. She is real.
Delete@mazeb@lls
DeleteNo one is "doxxing" anybody. She provided her own name and made the public claim that she now owns a store previously owned (or "owned" - who the hell knows?) by a notorious con artist. Respectful scrutiny of her claim is entirely warranted under the circumstances.
DeleteWho said anything about doxxing? FFS. People just didn't trust that she wasn't a Figment of Whitman.
DeleteAs an aside, the new store hours are 12-6, Mon-Sat (closed Sunday) - not sure how well that will be for business...
