Definition: In the formal legal world a court case that is dismissed with prejudice means that it is dismissed permanently. A case dismissed with prejudice is over and done with, once and for all, and can't be brought back to court.
Remember the dueling D&D documentaries that turned into an expensive lawsuit? I'm not even referring to the dollars involved - it cost the gaming community a true gem or two. Now, hopefully, these gems will see the light of day.
You can read some articles on the original dispute at
The NY Times and
The Verge
Your Verge link seems broken. I found it after a brief search: https://www.theverge.com/2014/7/15/5901199/the-case-of-the-dueling-dungeons-dragons-documentaries

DeleteI'm glad this has been resolved. There's been a huge lack of information about these Kickstarters. The Great Kingdom had to take their sites down after the injunction, and the Kickstarter for the D&D documentary has not posted an update since Jan 2016--which raises a lot of red flags because even if they were limited in what they could say, they should have at least done a few letting us know they are still around.
ReplyDeleteRight now I guess I am wondering what will come next now. The biggest concern is how much all these lawsuits have cost--even without a trial lawyers aren't cheap, and all the buzz around this has pretty much been lost and/or turned bitter over this lawsuit. Will they resolve and work together or go their separate ways or will one party turn over all their stuff to the other?
I know! Let's watch BOTH documentaries!
ReplyDeleteThis means my t-shirts with The Great Kingdom logo on are no longer illegal in the state of New York. I am vaguely disappointed by that.
ReplyDeleteDang, you scooped me! Glad there is movement on this. Now to see if emails have/will be answered....
